The manager of Juventus, Antonio Conte, has hailed Arturo Vidal for being consistent throughout the ongoing season and has said that Vidal is the main reason why his team is currently at the top of the Serie A points table.
Juventus is now very close to winning the Series A title for the second consecutive time. They have played 34 matches thus far out of which they have won 25, have lost 4, while; the rest 5 matches have been draws. They currently have 80 points.
Napoli which is at the second position in the points table has 11 points less than Juventus.
Vidal has been in tremendous form right through this season. He has hardly looked erratic on the field.
This is Vidal’s second season for Juventus He had joined the Italian Club in July 2011 after leaving the German club Bayern Leverkusen.
Vidal had performed decently in his debut season as well. He had scored 7 Serie A goals in that season.
In the last season, Vidal was not regularly included in the starting line up, but, in this season, Conte showed faith in him right from the start and the Chilean midfielder has delivered.
When asked about the performance of Vidal in the ongoing season, Conte said, “He has been superb till now. He is definitely playing better than the last season. He is a sort of guy who always gives more than 100%. He is vital for the team.”
“In the last season, Arturo used to get too much intense at times, but, in this season, he has shown maturity. He has been calm and collected in his approach and I think he is the main reason why we are in such a comfortable position at the moment.”

The recent poor form of Juventus has led to a barrage of criticism from the media and the fans, but the manager Antonio Conte has said that he is extremely disappointed with such criticism. Juventus were top of the table with a sizeable advantage only a few weeks ago. However, their lead has been cut down to just a few points after a poor run of form that has seen them take just a few victories in the last 10 matches. Despite this, the club has qualified for the final of the Coppa Italia and they will also be in the last 16 stage of the Champions League.
As a result, Conte has said that the criticism of Juventus is unjust and unfair. The defeat at the hands of Sampdoria and then a draw with Parma have resulted in the team’s lead at the top of the table to cut to just three points. There is a real danger of Napoli overtaking them if the poor form continues, while they will be facing Celtic in the next few weeks. Ahead of the Coppa Italia final with Lazio, the manager Conte has come up with an amazing outburst that defended the form of his team in recent weeks.
“I’ve heard too much criticism of us in recent weeks. People are talking about a crisis because we couldn’t win games against Sampdoria and Parma despite two good performances. You can only be judged on results. But I am calm as I look at what we have done – we are top of the league, in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia for the second season in a row and we’re in the second round of the Champions League,” said the Juventus manager, who guided the club to the first league title in almost a decade.

The AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has accepted the fact that Juventus are the strongest team in Italy right now, and that his team will have a tough match when they come up against the champions in the Coppa Italia. The quarter-final match between the two clubs will be taking place at the home of Juventus, which makes it even more tough for AC Milan. Allegri has been under massive pressure in recent months due to the poor form of the club. Now that he has lost the services of Alexandre Pato as well, it will be interesting to see the line-up of the manager for this match.
Allegri has said that his under strength team are no match for the Italian champions, who currently lead the table by a massive nine points. They will be coming into the match on the back of the surprising 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sampdoria. Milan will be looking to take advantage of this defeat by repeating this score of a few months back when they managed to stun the champions at the San Siro in the league. This match is also a repeat of the Coppa Italia semi-final of last season when Juventus managed to come out on top only to be beaten by Napoli in the final.
“The Juventus Stadium is the most difficult place to win because Juventus are the strongest team in Italy. Last year they ended the championship unbeaten, and they have already taken 44 points from the first half of the season, so it’s difficult to find negative aspects. We will require intensity and good technique if we want to get anything out of the encounter,” said the Milan manager. Milan are currently seventh in the Italian Serie A table many points behind the leaders Juventus.

The Juventus assistant manager Angelo Alessio has said that he wants the team to be aware of the fact that they have not qualified for the last 16 stage of the Champions League yet and they have to win against Shakhtar Donetsk in order to ensure the same. Juventus came into the match against Chelsea knowing that a defeat would almost send them out of the competition. However, they managed to beat the European champions 3-0, which has put them on the brink of qualification to the knockout stages. It, however, is still not sufficient for them to seal the qualification because Chelsea can still sneak into the second position.
Juventus would be facing Shakhtar Donetsk on the final group game away from home. This will be an extremely tough encounter, while Chelsea will be having a relatively easy home match against Nordsjaelland. The 3-0 defeat might have put the European champions on the brink of elimination, but they still can qualify if Juventus lose against Shakhtar Donetsk. Even if the Italian champions get a point, it might be enough for them to progress to the next stage. The Juventus assistant manager has called for a similar kind of performance shown by the players in the Chelsea match against Shakhtar Donetsk as well.
“Our last game will be extremely important as we are not through yet, but we will play the same way we did tonight. We like to play football – we did everything we could to win, and were rewarded with an important victory. Both teams have great players and it was a beautiful game. I have to compliment the whole team on this game. We wanted to maintain a high pace over the 90 minutes, we wanted to force them to defend,” said the Juventus assistant manager after the Chelsea match.
